Implementation Specialist

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow CMDB Implementation Specialist to design, configure, and maintain a scalable Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within ServiceNow. This role ensures data accuracy, implements discovery and integrations, and drives best practices to maintain CMDB health and compliance. Key Responsibilities

CMDB Design and Architecture

  • Architect a scalable CMDB structure aligned with industry standards and business requirements.
  • Develop Configuration Item (CI) class models, relationships, and dependencies for accurate data representation.
  • Establish robust data governance and ownership models to ensure consistent data quality.

Discovery and Data Integration

  • Configure and implement ServiceNow Discovery to automatically populate the CMDB with identified assets.
  • Integrate CMDB with third-party tools (e.g., SCCM, JAMF, Cloud providers) for synchronized data updates.
  • Enable Cloud Discovery (AWS, Azure, GCP) to ensure comprehensive visibility across hybrid environments.

CMDB Health and Compliance

  • Define and monitor CMDB health metrics such as completeness, compliance, and correctness.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and generate actionable reports.
  • Configure automated workflows to validate data accuracy and maintain ongoing compliance.

Lifecycle and Process Automation

  • Develop and implement lifecycle management workflows for efficient CI state transitions from procurement to retirement.
  • Automate lifecycle updates, trigger alerts for incomplete data, and validate CI relationships.
  • Collaborate with Asset Management teams for end-to-end asset tracking.

Data Quality and Maintenance

  • Create processes for data validation and CI reconciliation to eliminate duplicate or obsolete entries.
  • Synchronize CMDB data with IT Asset Management (ITAM) and IT Service Management (ITSM) systems for unified accuracy.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with IT Operations, Asset Management, and other teams to align CMDB processes with business objectives.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance understanding of CMDB processes among stakeholders.

Documentation and Process Governance

  • Document CMDB processes, workflows, and guidelines, ensuring they adapt to organizational changes.
  • Define and enforce data governance policies to maintain CMDB accuracy and compliance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify areas for improvement in CMDB practices and implement enhancements to boost efficiency.
  • Stay updated with ServiceNow releases and leverage new functionalities to optimize CMDB configurations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • ServiceNow CMDB & ITOM Configuration: Expertise in CMDB architecture, CI class modeling, and dependency mapping.
  • Discovery & Service Mapping: Proficient in ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and Cloud Discovery (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Third-Party Integrations: Experience integrating tools like SCCM, JAMF, and Tanium for data synchronization.
  • Automation & Scripting: Skilled in JavaScript, PowerShell, and other automation frameworks for data accuracy and workflow efficiency.
  • Data Modeling: Strong understanding of CI definitions, relationships, and dependency mapping to build accurate asset hierarchies.

Soft Skills:

  • Analytical problem-solving skills to address data accuracy challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to engage IT teams and stakeholders effectively.
  • Attention to detail to maintain precision in CMDB processes.
  • Proven ability to train and transfer knowledge on CMDB governance and best practices.

Experience & Certifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB and ITOM implementations.
  • Certifications: ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in Discovery, CMDB, or ITOM; ITIL Foundation Certification preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL, ISO 27001, and other compliance frameworks related to CMDB processes.
